How to Select Your Wine Cooler

If you love having people over at your place or go to a lot of co-hosted parties, you definitely need a wine cooler. When you pay a visit to the market to find the perfect wine cooler for your parties, you might get confused over the kinds of wine coolers present. There are many different kinds of wine coolers in the market but three types are most common ones: free standing, counter top and my favorite best built in wine cooler.

As per the kinds of wine coolers, all of them are excellent in terms of their performance but can be better suited if you understand your needs before making a purchase. There are multiple factors you need to consider before buying a wine cooler for instance the cost, placement, performance, energy consumption, etc. Once you are sure of the your demands, it is relatively easier to purchase a wine cooler fit for you.

If still in doubt, here are a few factors to consider when buying a wine cooler:

1. Cost

Before making a purchase, the cost is probably the most significant factor. The price range differs with the different types of wine coolers you may want to buy. Among the three wine coolers mentioned above, the free standing wine cooler costs the least among them. The free standing wine cooler is best if you’re looking to try out the wine cooler at different parties. It is easier to invest in a cheaper one for a trial and then going for something more expensive if needed.

2. Mobility

There are portable wine coolers which can be taken to your parties, gatherings or even celebrations. If you require a wine cooler that is portable then you probably don’t need a built in or counter top wine cooler. The free standing wine cooler comes with tyres which can be transferred from one place to another.

3. Placement

It is important to understand that the wine cooler needs to be placed somewhere and it’s acquirement should be dependent on that. If you want a wine cooler that is placed at a specific spot, you should go for a built in wine cooler. The amazing feature about this wine cooler is its ability to get installed in an-already built cabinet in your kitchen or dining room.

If you are looking for a wine cooler that can be placed on a counter but still has the ability to be moved, then you should get a counter top wine cooler. This wine cooler is perfect for people who are indecisive about the placement of the cooler. The counter top wine cooler can be transferred from one counter to another depending on your choice and mood. If you initially placed it on the kitchen counter, you can place it in the living room during a party. A free standing wine cooler might not be the perfect solution as it can be moved all the time and does not have a specific place.

4. Temperature Control

We have different wines for different occasions and sometimes all are opened but not finished. Storing those wines can be a challenge if you only have one wine cooler. Buying a wine cooler for every different kind of wine is impossible. Therefore, you need to make sure you select the wine cooler that suits the possibility of having multiple opened wine bottles.

The built in wine cooler gives you the option of controlling temperature as per your requirement and placing wines as per their required temperatures. For instance, if a wine needs to be used regularly, it can be placed in the area closer to the opening door. Vice versa for the wine that is not be used immediately. There is a lot of space and adjustment options for storing wines in a built in wine cooler without worrying about making wine stale.

5. Cooling Capacity

It really depends on the number of wine bottles you want to keep in your wine cooler when selecting the right one. If you often visit a large group of people, you should think about getting a wine cooler that has a huge capacity of storing a lot of bottles at the same time. Storing and maintaining the temperature of wine bottles can be tricky as per the total number of bottles you want to keep.

Wine coolers either have a compressor for cooling or a thermoelectric cooling system. The smaller wine coolers, including built in wine coolers, have the latter cooling technology. This means, the cooling is sufficient for only a few bottles. A free standing or counter top wine cooler comprises of the compressor cooling system which is installed in your refrigerators. Not only is this cooling method more effective, but also sustains the temperature for more bottles of wine.

Depending on your demands, you can select either one of the wine coolers and have a good celebration!
